Dr. Brian Reister
Hello, my name is Brian. I earned my DVM from Kansas State University in 1982. My wife and I began East Lane Veterinary Hospital over the past 35 years along with a very capable and dedicated team. The community has provided me many opportunities for involvement, including 10 years with the volunteer fire department, as a judge in the annual community “dog kissing” contest, and presenting dog bite prevention in our local schools.
Dr. Erin Byrne
Hello!
I am originally from Michigan but was lucky enough to move to the beautiful state of Oregon prior to starting high school. Similar to many of my colleagues, I have loved animals from a very young age. This led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences from Oregon State University, which I received in 2016. During my undergraduate education, I worked at the Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at OSU as well as a research ranch. Both experiences expanded my interest in the veterinary field. I attended Oregon State University’s Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2020.
Starting in the veterinary field during a pandemic definitely taught me a lot of skills that are difficult to learn in school, as well as the importance of communication with owners about their pets. I love working with owners to make a plan that is right for the pet and the family as a whole.
While all areas of veterinary medicine are interesting, I have a special interest in surgery and ultrasound.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, camping, water activities or enjoying a relaxing movie night. I am very excited to be part of the East Lane family and look forward to working with all our clients to ensure their furry family members are happy and healthy.
Looking forward to meeting you and your pets soon!

Sadie Reister
My husband Brian and I moved here 32+ years ago and started East Lane Veterinary Hospital. I was teacher trained but had no practical experience other than the pets I grew up with. I learned fast!
I traded teaching children to teaching people of all ages about pet care and have loved every minute of it. We have been so fortunate to have landed here in Leaburg…we have felt much loved and well cared for as a family and as a local business.
I love being on the water, but I am a ‘floater’ not a ‘white water’ person. I love my kayak on a lake! I enjoy working outside and planning clinic events!
Alex
Hello! My name is Alex, I started at East Lane in December of 2009. I began as a Technicians Assistant and continued to work as a Veterinary Assistant and Client Service Representative through college. I graduated from Oregon State University in 2014 where I received a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science Pre Veterinary Medicine with a Nutrition & Chemistry minor. After college, I elected not to attend veterinary school because I realized my true passion was in veterinary management. With the help of Sadie, our practice manager, and Dr. Brian, I have been able to expand my knowledge of veterinary management and become a VHMA (veterinary hospital managers association) member. I was also able to become a part-owner of East Lane Veterinary Hospital beginning October 1st 2018. Currently, I am working towards a CVPM certification and hope to get a Masters’s degree down the road. I love animals, the McKenzie River community, ELVH staff, and our clients. My husband and I currently have two cats, a golden retriever, and an Arabian horse. I look forward to seeing you at your next visit!
Launa
Hi! My name is Launa and I have been blessed to work here at East Lane since 2002. I can truly say that I love my job! I was a client before I became a part of this wonderful family, and I always appreciated the treatment both my pets and I received at ELVH. With that, I aim to do the same for the clients and pets I get to interact with every day, treating everyone’s fur babies as if they were my own.
I am married to a wonderful man that understands the passion I feel for my job and supports me in that, even when I come home smelling funky and covered in pet hair. I have three grown sons that I am extremely proud of and four amazing grandsons that I adore and cherish.
When not working, my husband and I enjoy activities such as camping, nature, photography, football (Ducks, Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks), hunting/fishing, and last but not least, riding our ATV’s on the beautiful Oregon dunes.
Mary
Hi, my name is Mary, I have proudly been working at East Lane since 2007. My love for animals and people bring me so much joy and happiness that is how I knew this was my calling. I’m happily married and have two wonderful sons and a beautiful granddaughter. I enjoy playing pickleball, bowling, walks on the beach and working in my yard.
Kat
Hi my name is Kat and I joined the East Lane team in 2019. I grew up in Florida where I received a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation/Pre-veterinary science from UF. After graduating in 2013, my husband and I moved to Mississippi and then Louisiana where I worked as a veterinary assistant for small animal and exotic veterinary practices. In 2017 I had an opportunity to work with a wildlife conservation group in Oregon so my husband and I loaded up our two dogs, conure parrot, rabbit, tortoise and chickens and headed west. When that opportunity didn’t feel like the right fit I realized I was missing the veterinary field. Then I found East Lane and could not wait to get back into the field. Currently, I am in school to become a CVT (certified veterinary technician) and am looking forward to the future with such a compassionate clinic
Lesley
Hi, my name is Lesley. I joined the ELVH family in March of 2008. I am originally from a small town in Missouri. I moved to Oregon in 2003 after meeting my now husband at photography school in Missoula, MT. I have always loved critters and have had dogs my entire life. I currently have two dogs and two cats. I had never really thought about becoming a veterinary technician until 2006. Up until then I think I was like a lot of people, thinking it would be too hard seeing any animal in pain or sick. Yes, there are moments and days that are difficult, but there are more happy times than sad. It’s nice being able to help people by helping the pets they love. I really do love what I do here at ELVH and the people I get to do it with.
Other than our critters, my husband and I also enjoy traveling, snowmobiling, diving/snorkeling, hiking and kayaking. Oh, and Go DUCKS!
Sarah
Hi… my name is Sarah and I have been a part of the team at East Lane since March of 2015. Before that I had worked in human medicine but never felt fulfilled at the end of the day. I needed animals! I am a third-generation client at ELVH and always thought it was a wonderful place, where they truly cared for the well being of the pet and the client… One day I dropped off my resume in hopes they needed me in one way or another and here I am. I feel fulfilled and full of joy! I am married to an amazing man who is my best friend, we have one dog named Bowdy (we call him “Pud”) and the three of us enjoy the outdoors together. You can find us biking, hiking, camping and near the water. We are grateful to be in such a beautiful area to enjoy life one day at a time.
Cheryl
I was born in Oregon and have lived here most my life. I have always had a soft spot for all animals and I am so happy to be working in the vet field, helping your pets. I am newly married, have 4 wonderful children, 4 grand babies, and 3 fur babies. I enjoy the outdoors and especially Kayaking our beautiful McKenzie river and lakes.
Heidi
Hi there, my name is Heidi and I just joined the East Lane family in 2021. I started here as a receptionist and was blessed to begin training as a tech assistant. I am currently enrolled at Penn Foster to obtain my CVT license. I was born and raised here in Oregon and in my free time, I enjoy waterfalls and mountain hikes, kayaking, paddle boarding and snowboarding with my fiancé. We have two fur kids… our dog, Mylo and our cat, Evie. I really look forward to meeting you and your wonderful fur babies. I feel at home and in good hands here at East Lane.
Madi
Hello! My name is Madi, I have been part of this wonderful teams since June of 2022 as a Technician Assistant. I am currently in school to be a Certified Veterinary Technician. I have more recently found my passion for veterinary medicine. I graduated from University of Oregon with a major in Public relations and a minor in Sociology. I have lived here in Oregon for about 10 years now. I have two sweet fur babies my dog Calypso and my cat Dobby. I am so thankful to find this amazing family here at East Lane!
Ashlee
Hello there! My name is Ashlee, and I joined the East Lane family in May 2022 as a technician assistant. I am currently in school to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. I have been in small animal medicine for about 8 years now and absolutely love growing relationships with clients and kiddos (patients)! I have a special place in my heart for the “smoosh breeds.” I’m a California native, and my son and I moved here last year and love everything Oregon has to offer. When I’m not working I can be found fishing, floating, kayakcercizing and hiking with my family and dogs.
Shayna
Hi y’all, my name is Shayna. I graduated with a degree in Kinesiology in 2013 and spent the next 8 years exploring the fitness industry in Eugene and Los Angeles. Once COVID hit and that field became significantly more difficult to thrive in, I found myself searching for something different. After a couple of misfires, I was lucky enough to find East Lane in 2023. I have always had a love for animals and fostered dogs (plus a parrot and a squirrel) in the past, but had no other experience in the field. I’m very thankful that the ELVH team took a risk with me and now I can’t imagine myself anywhere else.
I welcomed my daughter in 2018. Today our family also includes my partner, four cats and two dogs.
